Te Mohiotanga Kotahi – The One Thought

Hauora Waikato Kaupapa Maori Mental Health Service, on behalf of Iwi Maori of Tainui, invites you to the 2007 Early Intervention in Psychosis National Training Forum and Conference. The venue for the 2007 Training Forum is the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion, set in the heart of Hamilton’s beautiful botanical gardens.

The theme of the training forum is Te Mohiotanga Kotahi - “The One Thought” – the common goal shared by consumers and Tangata Whaiora, their carers, whanau, and clinicians, of achieving the best possible outcomes for young people experiencing psychosis.

Streams within the conference include Kaupapa Maori EI, basic principles and practice EI skills workshop, psychological interventions workshop (psychologists only), latest developments within international EI research, service development forum, alcohol and other drug assessment and interventions workshop, youth and the law, along with the EINZ AGM.

There will be a formal Powhiri to open the conference, along with a closing Poroporoaki. The social program includes a networking evening on the 31st July and a formal meal at the Gardens Pavilion combined with the poroporoaki at midday on the 1st August.

We are delighted to welcome Professor Max Birchwood, Professor Mason Durie, Dr Hinemoa Elder and Professor Graham Mellsop as keynote speakers for the training forum. Dr Grant Christie will be presenting a workshop on AOD/Dual Diagnosis in EI, and PANSS training provided by Dr Wayne Miles will be available during the conference for those interested in joining the First Episode Research NZ project.
